7 brave ING employees participated and finished in the famous City Pier City Run in The Hague. After last years cancelation due to bad weather there was a fear that it would be canceled again because of the Corona virus but fortunately the run went ahead as scheduled.

It was a little bit windy but apart from that the conditions were pretty perfect, no rain and not too cold or warm. We first met for the team picture and then we did a small warming up through the old city center of The Hague to be fully energized before the start. Together with Matthijs I secured a spot right behind the elite runners to be in a good spot to run a personal best. Like all would be top runners we had put on our Vapor Fly shoes.

After the start it was great to see the city and be cheered by huge crowds. Especially the area around the Peace Palace was very nice. Matthijs and I were able to run parts together in a group which is the best way if you want to run fast. After 10 kilometers it became tougher especially the part in Scheveningen when you run close to the beach. Once again people were cheering along the road which really helps. Luckily the last 4 km are mostly downhill which gives you some extra power to get to the finish,

Ultimately I finished in 1:16:18 which is four minutes better that my personal best. Not sure how big the impact was of the new shoes, but I know for sure that will use them for my next ING runs.
